What banknotes do we buy?

We offer the purchase of retired Latvian banknotes listed on our website. The lats was the official currency before the adoption of the euro. The currency was introduced into circulation on July 7, 1922, replacing the then-current Latvian markka. After a break caused by World War II and the occupation, the Latvian lats was reinstated on July 4, 1993, after Latvia regained independence. After the introduction of the euro, Latvian lats could be exchanged for euro at the Bank of Latvia and at some commercial banks for a limited period.
